Mr. Kok-Whee Teo

Mr. Kok-Whee Teo has over 20 years experiences in semiconductor and electronics industries, primarily engaged in developing new businesses, with over US$ 1 billion accumulated profits created. Mr. Teo has extensive business, engineering and product development expertises in exploring emerging differentiated applications. He had led new global and Asia businesses in semiconductors including digital signal processor; 3D and environment-friendly interconnects; electronic gases and chemical solutions. He held senior positions in Texas Instruments; Molex; and most recently as a global VP in Linde/BOC Electronics. Mr Teo holds MSC Industrial Engineering (Semiconductor/Electronics) and MBA from National University of Singapore.
Dr. Juha Rantala
Vice President of R&D, CTO
Dr. Rantala is the key inventor behind Silecs' fundamental molecular chemistry and silicon materials technology. Before co-founding Silecs in 2000, he spent the majority of his career developing new molecules and chemicals for organic and inorganic spin-on films, focusing on dielectrics and optical films for semiconductor, CMOS image sensor and display applications. A large part of his research work was done at the University of Arizona, where Dr. Rantala continues to hold a faculty position. Prior to co-founding Silecs he also served at VTT Electronics, the national laboratory of Finland, as Chief Research Scientist and Deputy Head of Manufacturing Technologies, leading activities in advanced materials development. During his tenure at VTT Dr. Rantala led several R&D projects with leading international technology companies mainly in the semiconductor and sensor technology fields. He has authored more than 50 publications, frequently given invited talks and chaired several conferences as well as a authored and co-authored a broad range of patents on novel dielectric materials, lithography processes and optical materials. Dr. Rantala holds a PhD. degree in inorganic chemistry from the University of Oulu.
Mr. Chung-Ping Lai
Vice President of Sales
Based in Taiwan, Chung-Ping Lai is responsible for world-wide sales at Silecs, to address customer demand across the microelectronics industry. Dr. Lai has over 12 years of experience in the semiconductor, flat panel display, LED and data storage industries, with accumulated sales revenue of over $1.5 billion over his professional career. Prior to Silecs, Dr. Lai was the Vice President & General Manager of North Asia region at Veeco, Inc. Previously he was Sr. VP of Applied Films Inc. (acquired by Applied Materials) responsible for world wide activities of the Display division with P&L responsibility. Before AFC, he was the President of Unaxis Taiwan Limited responsible for growth of Unaxis products into semiconductor, display, data storage and LED industries. Prior to Unaxis, Dr. Lai was president of Actima Technology and previously President of Balzers Process Systems Taiwan. Dr. Lai received his Ph.d. in Ceramics Science and Engineering from the Rutgers University of New Jersey.
Mr. Hannu Hiillos
Vice President of Finance
Mr. Hiillos is responsible for the finance and accounting functions at Silecs, including financial budgeting and reporting. He has over 15 years of experience in the electronics industry, most recently managing internal and external finance and accounting activities at Aspocomp, a Finland based manufacturer of advanced printed circuit boards for telecom applications. Mr. Hiillos holds a M.Sc. degree in Economics from the Vaasa School of Economics.
Mr. William (Billy) McLaughlin
Vice President of Engineering
Mr. McLaughlin is responsible for operations at Silecs, including manufacturing, quality and new product development. His team is responsible for planning and executing technical development projects to schedule, and responding to customer requests for product performance and processing data. Mr. McLaughlin joined Silecs in 2003 from Motorola in Lanarkshire, Scotland, where he spent the previous nine years in various engineering management positions, leading teams of engineers in technical programs and process transfers between different fabs. Prior to Motorola, he was a thin film and integration engineer at GEC Plessey where he spent two years working extensively with spin-on glass materials. Mr. McLaughlin holds a MSc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Paisley
Mr. Erkki Enström
General Manager of Manufacturing Operations
Mr. Enström is responsible for production at Silecs. He joined the company in 2006 from CPS Color in the Netherlands, where he was global production and logistics director for colorant manufacturing. Prior to CPS Color he held various production manager tasks at Tikkurila in Vantaa, Finland, where his responsibilities grew during nine years to cover the production team of more than 200 employees. Mr. Enström holds a MSc. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology.
