The bulk of today's electronic and optical materials were developed in the 1980s and 1990's and continue to be manufactured on aging production technology. With its computer-controlled reactors, Silecs' state-of-the-art production facility is in a class of its own. Bottom line: we consume less energy and minimize material waste. Our jacketed heating and cooling systems represent a substantial improvement over older inefficient techniques. Further, all condenser cooling is done in a closed loop. This means that we repeatedly circulate cooling water, avoiding the fresh water wastage that occurs with older-generation reactors.
But our commitment to greener electronics extends beyond our advanced materials and into the devices that we enable. For example, you'll soon find Silecs materials at the heart of the newest solid state lighting applications. This lighting technology based on LEDs-prized as a more energy efficient, longer-lasting alternative to conventional lighting-is being used in a host of applications ranging from automotive lighting to LCD backlights.
